Please note.

• UPDATE: If you are installing Port-Digger on Cable Modem, you need to reboot the cable modem and it will register Port-Digger 6 to ISP automatically.
• You want the remote connection to be 99.999% accessible most of the time without a fail, then please read all the manuals we published, at least once, it won't take over 3 minutes.

Step 1: Make sure both internet and ethernet cables are working properly.

Follow steps below to verify the connection:

1. Connect DVR to the customer's router. (Do not install PortDigger yet).
2. Reboot the DVR then Go to DVR network menu and check the DHCP IP address.
   (in other word, Obtain IP automatically then reboot the DVR).

• If you are getting, abnormal looking LAN IPs like 0.0.0.0 or 192.0.0.1 or 169.254.x.x there is an issue with the network; you must resolve this first. That's mostly Ethernet cable problem or defective ethernet ports from the router.
  
  
• Ethernet cable is absolutely not an electrical cable, twist-extended wire or tape-extended wire, or bending the cables (even cabling though the doors) will cause reduced packet-flow or blocked packet entirely when pressed by something. Please treat the cable as a "water hose". Most of water-leak caused from hand-made materials. And the budget LAN cable tester will always give you the positive beep signal even though there are loosened copper plates and wire contact has lost 98% of the packets. This makes the connection unstable or at the end, unusable at all. 

Step 2: Connect Port Digger to DVR/NVR.

1. Internet Cable goes to WAN port of Port Digger,
   the LAN port of Port Digger to the DVR. 
2. Make sure that DVR network setup menu enabled "DHCP" 
3. Click Apply or Ok button and then restart the DVR.(important)
4. You're all set!  

Post-installation.

• Please wait a minimum of 60 seconds; then you should see Solid LED on Port Digger, it means it is online and ready to use.

• Locate your DDNS address and Local IP Address

For 2017- 2018 models: Use 'last four digit' of the MAC address that printed on the Port Digger device then 'openport.us' (example: a1b2.openport.us)

For 2018- 2019 models: Use 'last four digit' of the MAC address that printed on the Port Digger device then 'anycast1.com' (example: a1b2.anycast1.com)

If you do not know which Android or iPhone App for the DVR, contact your DVR distributor, you should follow and use their app, we mostly do not know each DVR's smartphone app name.

Trouble-shooting.

• Old Port Digger MK2 models have an LED light that blinks while powering up, but then the flashing stops and remain no LED, 
  you should wait about 30 seconds more, then it will light up again
  when remote viewing is ready (signified by a  Solid LED Light)

• In networks experiencing heavy traffic, automatic setup can take anywhere from 60 seconds up to 5 minutes. 

• If you are using a Port Digger with an old router, you may experience connection issues. This is because one of the four ethernet ports from the router gets easily frozen (you can spot Frozen ethernet LED at their router, while other 3 ports are blinking) and does not work properly again until you restart the router. 

• Port Digger typically requires 0.2A but sometimes spikes to a little higher than that at roughly 0.5A. If USB does not supply enough power, Port Digger will repeatedly restart itself automatically If you don't want this happen, please use USB wall AC charger.(if you spot USB port of DVR extended using inner cable to the main board, do not ever use that USB ports).

• If you're using long ethernet cables, Port Digger requires more power than the USB port on the DVR can supply. You have two options in this scenario:

1. Connect the power cable to an outlet using our USB Adapter.
2. Use our Wi-Fi Hub Switch or Port Digger 6 to set up the connection wirelessly

• Running 100ft cable consume about half of the USB port power in the wire. Minimum 2A USB power recommended.
